On February 08, 2025, the regional Questions and Answers session of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine continued with lawyers interested in participating in the selection of judges to local courts. After Lviv, the second such event was held in Dnipro, where Yaroslav Dukh and Serhii Chumak answered questions from the audience.
During the Questions and Answers session, the key aspects of the judicial selection procedure and the specifics of submitting documents by candidates were discussed. Members of the Commission explained to the participants the work of the Judicial Career Office, informed them about the timing of the selection process and the documents to be submitted for admission to the selection.
The main questions of the participants concerned the correctness of filling out declarations of integrity and family ties, calculation and confirmation of the appropriate length of service for different categories of candidates (attorneys, court officials, etc.), the content and number of test assigments in the qualification exam, the concept of practical assignments and cognitive testing.
Much attention was also paid to the approximate timing of the qualification exam, the formation of the reserve and the announcement of the competition to local courts. The speakers reminded the meeting participants that most of the questions have already been answered by the Commission on its website in the “Questions and Answers” section.
The HQCJU members drew attention to the qualification exam, in particular the test on the history of Ukrainian statehood, emphasizing the need for potential judicial candidates to develop a Ukrainian worldview and understanding of Ukrainian statehood.
The purpose of the regional meetings, organized by the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Bar Association, is to attract the attention of lawyers who meet the qualification requirements and interest them in participating in the selection process for judicial positions, thus contributing to the development of the state and strengthening the country’s legal system.
The following events will take place: February 11 in Kharkiv, February 21 in Odesa, and February 28 in Kyiv.
It should be reminded, in December 2024, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine announced the selection of judges to local courts with a projected number of 1,800 vacancies. The deadline for submitting an application and documents for participation in the selection is from
March 01, 2025, to March 30, 2025 (inclusive). The period for submission of documents for military personnel is from March 01 to May 01, 2025 (inclusive).
